Wexford
Plantation
From
the Wexford Plantation website:
Following a major renovation, Arnold Palmer
opened his Signature Course at Wexford Plantation
in 2011. The 18–hole Wexford Course was
originally designed by Willard C. Byrd and
opened in 1983. After the renovation, each
hole retained its distinctive and timeless
look while adding numerous risk and reward
challenges that offer interestingly delicate
plays that require thought, imagination
and a well honed short game.
The
golf course is brilliantly blended with
the natural settings of the plantation to
provide a meticulously maintained journey
through tall, majestic Oaks and stately
Pines. It continues around intimate ponds
and an expansive stretch of Coastal Marshlands
to offer a unique but special experience
with spectacular views.
According
to Arnold Palmer Design Company, Wexford
is by no means a replica course, but takes
inspiration from a few select "template"
holes such as The Road Hole, Redan, Alps
or Biarritz and gives them a modern interpretation
that is still founded in traditional and
classic golf course architecture.
